Toy Vehicle Insurance

Spring and summer are right around the corner and, inevitably, ATVs will slowly make their way out of storage back out onto the warm terrain. Before taking your vehicle out for a spin in the warm weather, it’s essential to ensure your ATV is in working order. Issues and accidents can arise seemingly out of nowhere, and it’s important to know how to prevent your ATV from experiencing unforeseen mishaps.a person sitting on a rock in the middle of a forest

How Do I Prepare My ATV?

If you’re taking your ATV out of storage, there are a variety of precautions you should take before driving your vehicle. An inspection of the exterior of your ATV is essential, ensuring there are no fluid leaks or underinflated/popped tires. If anything looks out-of-the-ordinary and you can’t figure out the problem yourself, be sure to get your vehicle inspected by an expert to ensure your safety.

In addition to changing your oil, it’s essential to ensure other aspects of your vehicle are in check and ready for the warm terrain. You may want to consider the following:

·        Charge your ATV battery, especially if you didn’t leave your vehicle on a charger while it was in storage.

·        Check fluid levels, including the lubrication of your engine and transmission and your brakes.

·        Maintain clean filters by ensuring there are no insects inside from the winter months and making sure the filters are clean and dry.

·        Pull and replace essential plugs, including cables for any noticeable weaknesses and chains/belts for lack of function.

While taking your ATV out for a spin is probably the first thing on your mind as the weather heats up, these are some necessary precautions to take to ensure the safety of you and your vehicle. Above all things, an emphasis on safety can go a long way. To learn more about safety precautions, be sure to visit the ATV Safety Institute.

Review Your Insurance Policy

If you have acquired an insurance policy for your ATV, check and see if your coverage is still valid for the upcoming spring and summer. Consider reviewing your policy to make sure you’re ready for any rough terrain that might come your way and to protect your vehicle from incurring any unforeseen accident expenses.
